Hours to Run About

2 of 6

6 of 20

These are some shoe and fashion illustrations that I have rendered this semester. I am attempting to make these 2 beautiful shoes in class and I am hoping they come out very well! I plan on using black leather and mesh for the one on the left and I have yet to decide what color for the shoe on the right. Even though I colored the shoe black I've had a change of heart and now I'm torn between a natural looking tan color or black.

The fashion illustrations are a part of my 20 figure collection and I'm going to make a pattern for one of these pieces and then sew it in a non-woven material. I think I will use either tissue paper or pellon.  The idea of my collection is the changing of form; a transformation where the seams and darts will open up to reveal a new look. For various outfits I used zippers as openings, closures and trim as well. This way when you unzip one part of the garment another piece of fabric will fall out or be seen from the opening created.

In My Head

Cushnie et Ochs AW11/12 Campaign

Aitken Jolly for Dansk AW11

Frances Bean Cobain by Hedi Slimane

I wonder if anyone has noticed I am using song lyrics for my blog titles. Of course I try and make the titles relevant to the images I post. Today I have been running around school to class and advising appointments. So much information has been swimming in my brain that I think it might overheat like a computer soon.

Wish me luck this week as I complete my fashion illustrations, flats, mood board, swatch board, and attempt to make my shoe design!

I Saw Deep Inside

Lately, I've been inspired by iridescence and various textures. Recently I have been looking at objects from different angles and have really noticed differences in shapes and colors. I have been noticing this especially with luminous objects and various fabrics.

My fifth week of school is approaching and I'm going to be having a lot of sleepless weeks! Hopefully I will not have to rely on caffeine too much. In a few days I will be having my first critiques for a few of my classes. Wish me luck!

Beauty Within Your Eyes

Robbie Fimmano

Les Amants (Cascade) Noemie Goudal

Olla Light D-Vision

Jacob Sutton and Hana Al-Sayed

Here are some more images I like! And where could I have possibly gotten these??? Of course the images are from WGSN! I really have an addiction to that website... But it's addicting because WGSN forecasts trends for years to come and the mood boards on their website are just so gorgeous! As September comes to an end I am really preparing myself for a beautiful Fall. This led me to think about falling objects and gravity. My concepts teacher was telling my class that we should experiment with fabrics of various weight and material on a mannequin. This way we can get to know different fabrics and how they drape a person.

Evolver

Balloon Dress by Cocky Eek (digitally manipulated by me)

Dart Manipulation

During my first class of integrated studio I learned how to manipulate darts
by pivoting my slopers. Then we went over our summer assignment and
discussed how to push our research. I think I’m going to concentrate on the
end of the 1950’s when fashion nullified the waist and squared the shoulders.

The Balloon Dress is a part of Cocky Eek's Illumine project becoming an organism which is similar to a transparent balloon with a small tail.

Standing in a Dream World

125 Magazine, Issue 16

If You Leave by Laurence Van Thomas

Infectious Beauty by Luke Jerram

Rainbow Church by Tokujin Yoshioka

Supervision 12 by Kerstin Xu Pan

I browsed through WGSN again which I am beginning to become addicted to.. I found these images which made me think of being in an ethereal world and that led me to create a foundation of a foreign looking space which included different types of lights. Recently I've been attracted to a lot of grays so when I browsed through my new favorite website I came across the photos which included a myriad of colors and have now developed an interest in rainbows.

I'm really attracted to Infectious Beauty by Luke Jerram. The shape within the shape is so enticing and I don't get bored looking at the photo. The texture of the piece is also eye catching and I really would like to touch the piece rather than stare at the photo.

Feel the Pressure

Flora by Alidra Alic

Maison Martin Margiela

Magnetic Nail Polish, Nails Inc

Annemarieke Van Drimmelen

After browsing on WGSN today I found some images that I really liked. They are all pretty neutral in color and kind of haunting. I love the cold feeling I receive from these pictures.

MoMA, The MET, and Fashion Week!

While I visited the MoMA last weekend I was reminded of the 1950’s when I ventured through Carlito Carvalhosa’s Sum of Days. The way the material billowed was reminiscent of the New Look. The State itself becomes a super whatnot
related to the voluminous installation.

In these pieces I see a feminine figure which makes me think of the return of femininity in the 1950’s.

I love the pointy shoes in Alexander Wang's Spring 2012 show! They're so pointy and feminine which reminded me of the girls in the 1950's.

The Colovos's duo became inspired by Richard Serra showed gorgeous brush strokes in their clothing and draped their models in gorgeous leather jackets. I am drooling over  the outfits with sequins.

Hello There!

I’m Nicole Louie a 2nd year student at Parsons
the New School for Design! My major is fashion
design and I admire many designers like
Alexander Wang, Rick Owens, Phillip Lim,
Helmut Lang, Alexander McQueen, and many
more.

During the fashion orientation, on August 24th, for 2nd year students and after all the information about the resources Parsons offers, a friend and I teamed up to create a garment out of paper. Using materials like newspaper, paper bags, and napkins to make our piece. Created in two hours, our idea began from a sketch while playing a game similar to the exquisite corpse. Soon after we began creating shapes from newspaper and layering them to create a voluminous skirt. The top shows a repeating word and face from a newspaper and the belt was made from napkins. We also created a neck accessory with a flower detail by manipulating newspaper and napkins. Our final garment took the stage along with other groups' work.

For this project I analyzed then tried to understand the role of a memory.
To do so I recreated an event that has happened to most people before.
I created my memory by taking a pair of old shoes and suspending them
with dowels. I then began to stretch chewed gum over the dowels and
attached it so it looked like the shoes were in motion. I finished by
combining dirt, black acrylic paint, and matte medium to create an
asphalt-like texture on the base.
